ND Spanish students are "on trend" learning about the language and culture while using technology in the classroom.

By Ronetta Bough

North Daviess Spanish students have kicked off the year learning about the Spanish language and culture while using their Bitmojis.  Students switched their phone's language to Spanish and created their Bitmojis with Spanish expressions.  It has been a fun way to start the new year.  Students are getting familiar with a second language and personalizing their experience.

Many students are active users of SnapChat that utilizes Bitmojis that reflect their likeness and personality.  Meeting the students' interests and tying it to language learning and cultural understanding has had a positive response from the students, parents, and staff.  Students placed their Bitmojis in Salvador Dalí's work of art, "The Persistence of Memory."  While learning about the surrealist Spanish painter and the symbolism of the melting clocks, students put their own spin on the his painting.

"La persistencia de memoria" por Salvador Dalí

Spanish students have created their own version of Salvador Dalí's, "The Persistence of Memory."  This school year is certainly going to be a memorable one for the students and their teacher as they build a great sense of community in a fun, educational way.
